It is the distant sci-fi future, after humanity has taken to the stars. It has to be said first that the story and setting that have been made for this game is little more than an excuse for what the player would be doing. The game’s longevity is dependent on the ages-old feature of unlocking stuff with in-game money. Almost everything else about the game can seem done-before, and would seem even more so after the player has had enough of its simplistic gameplay. Unfortunately, its very effective sprite-based graphics are the game’s main sell. Therefore, Stellar Jockeys developed a surprisingly versatile sprite-based system for the graphics of Brigador. One such example is Brigador.Īs an indie title, it has neither the budget nor chaps for high-definition detailed 3D models of mechs and other war machines, and its developer did not have the capital like Piranha Games did when it made MechWarrior Online. It is so appealing, that there have even been titles in the indie gaming scene about them. There is always something appealing about giant bipedal war machines in sci-fi works, despite how impractical that they can be if they were ever made in real life.
